The summer season is finally here, and with it comes enjoyable holidays such as the 4th of July. This annual holiday is the perfect excuse to leave home and enjoy the best vacation getaway to San Diego. While last year saw most of the city’s events cancelled due to COVID, this year is back in full swing with a calendar filled with exciting events and activities. Take a look at how your 4th of July in San Diego can look like this year:

Annual Big Bay Boom

When it comes to the largest fireworks show right here in San Diego, you cannot go wrong with the Annual Big Bay Boom. This famous fireworks show is held over the San Diego Bay, and the fireworks reflect off the water for a dazzling display. All fireworks are launched from the North San Diego Bay but can be seen anywhere from the coast. The best viewpoints are Coronado Landing, Shelter Island, Embarcadero, and Harbor Island. Check with local charters to see if any boats will be on the water during the fireworks display. This year’s Annual Big Bay Boom is scheduled to take place at 9:00 PM and should last for approximately one hour.

Fireworks Spectacular at SeaWorld

One of the biggest attractions in all of San Diego is SeaWorld. This incredible water park is known for thrilling shows and aquatic displays. SeaWorld has weekly fireworks to help bring another exciting day at the park to a close. You can expect a dazzling fireworks display on the 4th of July at 9:45 PM. The display is set to an impressive musical soundtrack to help offer a unique experience. This fireworks display is perfect for those who will already be at the park having a blast with the thrilling exhibits.

4th of July Parade at Historic Park

Another exciting event that takes place each year for the 4th of July is over at Old Town State Historic Park. Here you will find their annual 4th of July Parade that is complete with patriotic decorations, crafts, and activities. Kids will have a blast with games such as cherry pit spitting and the egg toss challenges. This event is perfect for families who want to spend the day together in celebration of their country. The 4th of July Parade starts at 11:00 AM with games and activities to follow.

Visitors who wish to spend some time over on Coronado Island will also find they are hosting their own 4th of July festivities. Coronado Island hosts their 4th of July Parade that starts at 10:00 AM and marches down Orange Avenue. Expect to find patriotic floats and businesses decked out for the holiday. Once the parade is over you will find an exciting concert at Spreckels Park. The evening will come to a close with a fireworks display that is displayed above Glorietta Bay. Expect to spend all day enjoying these exciting activities! For our active visitors they can even start the morning with the annual 5K and 12K runs that kick off the day of celebration.
