5 Things to Look Forward to This Spring in San Diego
Spring in San Diego does not necessarily come with the relief that comes with a spring somewhere like Boston. This is due to the fact that the weather in San Diego is always beautiful. With that being said, the spring season does bring with it many opportunities in San Diego.
Okay, this one pretty much applies to any season in San Diego, but spring is when you will find consistently amazing weather. You can expect highs in the mid 60s and lows in the low 50s. Sunny days are perfect for hitting the beach (maybe not swimming, though) and cool nights are perfect for bonfires on the bay. And March and April feature sunny weather, unlike the “May Gray” that some other places experience.
Spring is the perfect time to visit San Diego for those that are looking for a peaceful getaway by the beach. You can enjoy the amazing weather that feels as if it is summer, but you do not get the huge crowds that come with May, June, and July.
During the spring, San Diego is bursting with vibrant colors due to the countless blooming flowers. Taking hikes is a great way to experience the beauty that springs up naturally here. One of the best ways to take advantage of this is by visiting the Carlsbad Flower Fields and/or the Coronado Flower Show-the largest tented flower show in the entire United States.
This vibrant community is always throwing awesome celebrations, but spring brings with it some of the city’s best festivities; the Earthfair in Balboa Park is one of the coolest of these. It is the largest, FREE Earth fair in the country. Every year, over 60,000 people come to this beautiful area to enjoy over 300 exhibitions, entertainment venues, special theme areas, and much more. You can also enjoy the free Busker Festival, The Sicilian Festival, The Festival of Science and Engineering, and much more.
The Grunion Runs
This is one of the most amazing natural phenomenon happening right on the beach in San Diego. During this time, thousands of these tiny fish mate in the shallow waters of the Pacific Ocean. This happens during the full moon, so watching it happen is quite the spectacle, featuring thousands of silver fish shining in the moonlight.
When it comes down to it, there is no bad time to visit this amazing city.
