Black’s Beach
Featuring one of the nine lifeguard stations, Black’s Beach has a glider port that overlooks it, offering a little extra something beautiful to look at. The cliffs surrounding the beach, however, make it difficult to reach, so please be careful. Surfing is allowed here.
Children’s Pool
Popular amongst scuba-divers, Children’s Pool Beach also has a permanent lifeguard station and is a great place to view seals in their natural habitat, but is closed from December through May—this is the seal pupping season.
La Jolla Cove
Small and stunning, La Jolla Cove is where you go when you want to take pictures and is a popular swimming spot as well. A permanent lifeguard station makes its home here as well.
La Jolla Shores
Gentle waves make this scenic spot great for activities of all sorts, including scuba classes. This is another of the nine beaches with a permanent lifeguard station.
Mission Beach
Home to Belmont Park, a Coney Island style amusement park with a California twist, Mission Beach draws crowds of tourists and locals every year. The permanent lifeguard station ensures your safety here, too.
North Pacific Beach
Tourmaline Surfing Park, located at the north end of North Pacific Beach, offers public parking, showers, restrooms, and the opportunity to surf, kiteboard, or sailboard. There is no lifeguard station here.
Ocean Beach
This pet friendly beach means you can bring the four legged members of your family, but please be sure to clean up after them. This is one of the beaches you can fish from the pier without a license and is also a beach with a permanent lifeguard station.
Pacific Beach
Popular year-round and home to a permanent lifeguard station, Pacific Beach is one of our favorites, but it can be crowded.
South Mission Beach
If beach volleyball is your sport, this is the place to go!
Windansea Beach
No lifeguard station here, but if you’re looking for a private and scenic place to rest, relax, and sunbathe, look no further; Windansea Beach is the spot for you!
