Location
The Cove of La Jolla is located on the northern shores of San Diego, just north of the La Jolla area. The area is almost all shoreline and wraps around point La Jolla. Nearby lies Scripps Park, a local park that allows beach goers a place to enjoy the sun without worrying about covering themselves in sand. From the park, you can see the ocean and the shoreline and absorb all of its beauty.
Activities
The calm ocean waters near La Jolla Cove allow San Diego, CA visitors to partake in a variety of different beach activities. The water is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, diving, and much more! The shoreline is sandy, but not very wide. This area is perfect for lounging and enjoying the water, but the area is not big enough for most beach sports requiring sand. Because the area is protected, there is no surfing, boogie boarding, or other floatation devices allowed along the shore. The area is best for swimming and lounging about.
Parking
Parking can be difficult in this area, but it is doable. The parking is mostly provided through concrete side lots. These lots are for paid parking only and are offered at a first come first served basis, so make sure that you arrive early to guarantee a good spot.
Beach Safety
Lifeguards are staffed from 9 am to dusk daily. If there is an emergency while at the beach, please notify the guard on duty immediately. There is also no alcohol or glass containers allowed at the beach. This is for the safety of the beachgoers and to protect the local sea life. You should review all beach rules and regulations prior to arrival.
