Beautiful La Jolla Shores
La Jolla Shores is a beautiful, sandy beach that is about a mile long and is located in the community of La Jolla. In the summer months, La Jolla Shores is known for its gentle waves, making it perfect for you and your family to enjoy. La Jolla Shores is also one of only nine beaches in the San Diego area that has permanent lifeguard stations patrolled by San Diego trained and licensed lifeguards. La Jolla Shores is located just adjacent to the San Diego La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve. However, be careful at this location, fishing and removal of objects from the reserve is prohibited, and possession of game is illegal.
La Jolla Shores is also perfect for scuba and snorkeling. The gentle nature of the ocean at this location allows for new divers to gain experience. The coral just off the shore allows for some of the most beautiful scuba spots in the San Diego area. You are welcome to bring your own scuba gear or sign up for one of the numerous classes that local vendors offer at this amazing beach.
La Jolla Shores allows many activities and amenities at their beach, including surfing, swimming, scuba, snorkeling, camp fires, picnics, playgrounds, boat docks, public parking, volleyball courts, and public showers to rinse off. The beach is also handicap accessible. The beach does have a boardwalk area adjacent to the beach that is accessible by wheelchair and a number of wide tire wheelchairs are available at the lifeguard stations for beach riding. However, make sure that you adhere to their rules and regulations. La Jolla Shores does not allow glass bottles, alcohol, smoking, littering, overwhelming speaker systems, camping, or overnight camping.
