Celebrating Halloween San Diego Style
Fall in San Diego means crisp, cool weather, sunny days, and plenty of Halloween San Diego festivities. From pumpkin patches to street fairs, haunted houses, and special events at the zoo there are plenty of spooky events to get you in the Halloween mood.
Belmont Park Fall Festival and Haunt
Every weekend during the month of October Belmont Park is transformed into Boomont Park. This historic oceanfront amusement park turns into a haunted festival with trick-or-treating, a pumpkin patch, zombie laser tag, and a spooky roller coaster. Entrance into the festival is free and the price of different rides vary.
Free trick-or-treating is held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the park for your little ghosts and ghouls. There is also a costume contest every Saturday at 5 p.m. If you really want to get into the Halloween spirit you can pick a pumpkin from the festivals pumpkin patch. Pumpkins vary by price but are free to paint. For the Halloween thrill-seekers in your group, there is the giant Spooky Roller Coaster or Zombie Laser Tag.
Halloween San Diego Monster Bash
If you are looking for a truly spooktacular Halloween Party, check out the Monster Bash. This outdoor block party is held every year in the Gaslamp District and is known as Southern California’s hottest Halloween San Diego block party. The event draws thousands of people each year dressed in some of the most creative and over-the-top costumes. The best costumes can compete in a costume contest to win the $5,000 prize. You’ll be dancing all night at this party as the festival brings some of the best EDM, Hip Hop, Trap, and House artists in the world. If you are hoping for some spooky entertainment the festival also has haunted houses including the hot pink Twisted Dream House. This year’s Monster Bash will be held on Saturday, October 28 from 6 p.m. – midnight. Ticket prices range from $30 – $110.
The Haunted Hotel
If you are looking for even more terror-thrilled fun, check out San Diego’s famous Haunted Hotel. The Haunted Hotel is San Diego’s longest-running haunted house and was voted one of the scariest in the country. This year’s theme will take you through a zombie-infested alley and a hillbilly swamp full of man-hunting killers. If you want to take the fear up a notch, visit the haunted house on lights out Wednesday. All the lights in the house are turned off and your only source of light is a small glow stick given to you at the beginning of the hotel. The Haunted Hotel is open Wednesday – Sunday during the month of October and every day during the last week of the month. Tickets can be bought online and are $20 per person.
