The holiday season has begun and many of us are still unprepared, even though we have known that it was coming! Life is busy, complicated, and the days seem to be speeding by, and one day we took a look at the calendar and all of a sudden Halloween had come and gone, Thanksgiving is only a week away, and Christmas is right around the corner! This year, however, you made the smart decision to leave the slushy grayness of your hometown and head to California to celebrate your holiday with sunshine, warmth, and the love of your immediate family. Here’s some fun Christmas activities in San Diego to help you feel merry and festive!
December Nights at Balboa Park
Held December 2nd and 3rd, this charming festival is completely free and filled with holiday activities to be enjoyed by all members of your family! Live music, dance performances, arts and crafts, holiday food and drinks; this festival is the kick-start to all that is wonderful about the holiday season.
Ugly Sweater Bar Crawliday
How better to get in a festive mood than by putting on your ugliest Christmas sweater and heading to the beach for a day of drinking and frivolity! Held on December 4th, the awesomeness starts at Typhoon Saloon, where you will get a shirt and wrist band, and the merriment continues as you parade along to five other local bars for games, prizes, and of course, many, many drinks!
San Diego Bay Parade of Lights
We’re betting that the holiday parades back in your hometown aren’t held on the water; aren’t you happy to be in warm San Diego this year, where our version of a Christmas parade features boats on the bay that are lit up and decorated in their holiday finest? Held on two separate nights, December 11th & December 18th, the best places to view this unique holiday show are at The Embarcadero and The Coronado Ferry Landing.
Gaslamp Holiday Pet Parade
Animal lovers will rejoice at this charming holiday tradition held on December 22 at the Gaslamp Hilton Park. If you brought your precious pooch (710 Beach Rentals also offers pet friendly vacation homes!), dress him up in one of his cutest Christmas costumes and come be a part of the festivities. If you left yours at home, you can find solace in the overabundance of adorableness found at this uniquely festive event!
