Fleet Science Center
This is a great place to spend an entire morning and afternoon. Here at the Fleet Science Center (which is fun for all ages), you can meander through over 100 different exhibits, including IMAX films exploring the natural marvels of the universe we live in. There are even evening events for adults (one such event being Two Scientists Walk into a Bar). Tickets to the Fleet Science Center are $22 for adults and $19 for kids.
San Diego Air and Space Museum
Come and check out significant artifacts of air and space history and technology! Explore and appreciate special exhibits like American Women of Flight, which honors the contribution from women to the history of aviation, and the Atlas Rocket Exhibit, which showcases the history of the Atlas rocket series. An upcoming summer event you’ll love if you love space is The Day We Walked on the Moon, on July 20th. Tickets to the Air and Space Museum are only $20 for adults, $17 for seniors/students, and $11 for kids. Kids under 2 and members of the military get in for free!
San Diego Natural History Museum
This is a great way to explore the local natural world and the global one as well, because this museum puts an emphasis on both. Current featured exhibits include Hidden Gems, which displays 100+ breathtaking gems and minerals, Fossil Mysteries, a walk through the local prehistoric history, and Unshelved: Cool Stuff from Storage, which is exactly what it sounds like. Tickets to the Natural History Museum are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors/students/military, and $12 for kids. Kids under 2 get in for free here as well!
Birch Aquarium at Scripps
This is a great way to get up close and personal with the ocean and all the life therein while still enjoying a cooling day indoors. Birch Aquarium houses 5,000+ fish in 60+ exhibits, from seadragons to leopard sharks. Follow the path of California ocean current in the Hall of Fishes and check the calendar to see when you can feed the animals. Fun upcoming summer events include Perspective Lecture: From Sea to Pharmacy and Green Flash Concert: Pine Mountain Logs and Venice. Tickets for the Birch Aquarium are $19.50 for adults, $16.50 for seniors/students, $15 for kids, with a $2-off discount for any tickets bought by active military members.
