San Diego is a great option for a guys’ getaway. You’ll need a few days just to check off a few of the best group activities in San Diego. You can fish, surf, zipline, and paraglide. And afterwards, you can go on a taco and burger binge, or stop at one of the amazing bars in town.
You can imagine that a city with this good of seafood has fishing that’s just as good. There are fishing opportunities everywhere. You’ll find yellowfin, bluefin, yellowtail, albacore, mahi mahi (dorado), marlin, mako, calico bass, halibut, rockfish, sheephead, croaker, corbina and white sea bass.
You can pier fish from one of the city’s seven piers, you can fish the open ocean with a guide, or you can freshwater fish in San Diego’s more than 20 lakes and reservoirs. These lakes are home to some of the world’s biggest largemouth bass.
Watch a Baseball Game
If you’re here in the spring, one of the best San Diego weekend activities is to watch San Diego’s baseball team, the Padres, in action at Petco Park. Petco Park, which opened in 2004, offers great views of San Diego Bay and the San Diego skyline. While you’re at Petco, grab a burger from Hodad’s, the city’s iconic burger joint.
Paragliding is One of the Top San Diego Weekend Activities
Paragliding might just be one of the most adventurous San Diego weekend activities. With Torrey Pines Gliderport, you can learn to paraglide on your own or with a tandem flight lesson. You’ll fly over the gorgeous Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, site of some of aviation’s most important moments. This is where Charles Lindbergh had his maiden flight in February 1930.
You can fly tandem 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day (or later if the winds allow) and flights are on a first come, first serve basis. A paragliding flights costs $175 and a hang-gliding flight costs $225.
San Diego is a hub for great distilleries and breweries. With so many options, it’s hard to pick which ones you’ll have time to visit. Consider taking a brewery tour. Brewery Tours of San Diego, Scavenger and San Diego Brew Tours are just a few of visitors’ favorite. Several tour companies even offer private tours, a great option if you’ve got a big group of friends.
