Notable for a variety of reasons, the San Diego Botanic Garden will not disappoint visitors searching for natural beauty. The grounds of this incredible garden span over the course of thirty-seven acres and include rarities such as the largest bamboo groves in the United States, gardens ranging from desert plants to tropical rainforests, a subtropical fruit garden, plants native to California, and Mediterranean landscapes. There are about three thousand types of subtropical, tropical, and Californian plants alone in the massive gardens.

Additionally, the San Diego Botanic Garden is family-friendly; the Hamilton Children’s Garden is the largest interactive garden for children on the West Coast, with three acres of play areas, such as Toni’s Tree House. There are a total of two children’s gardens on the grounds.

The garden is open from 9:00am until 5:00pm daily all year long, with extended hours from 9:00am until 8:00pm on Thursdays during the summer. Visitors can explore the grounds in anywhere from forty-five minutes to several hours; it all depends on how much time you want to take to see the variety of plant species and more.
