The Team
Many Major League Baseball (MLB) teams have moved from city to city and state to state, but not the Padres; since 1969, they have been based right here in San Diego, allowing generations of fans to call them theirs. Their spring training home is located in Peoria, Arizona, but the rest of the year you will find them playing and practicing in Petco Park. They’ve made it to the World Series twice without winning, and they are the only team in the MLB to have never thrown a no-hitter, but we don’t care; the Padres belong to us, and we will support them until the end of time!
The Stadium
Opened in 2004, Petco Park is based in the middle of downtown San Diego, shadowed by skyscrapers and located just a stone’s throw from the bay. This beautiful stadium is the pride of San Diego. Not a domed stadium like Chase Field in Arizona, it still ranks high up in the list of American stadiums, and a day spent enjoying a San Diego Padres game under the clear blue California skies is a day well spent.
