Summer Attractions to Visit in San Diego

Author 06-26-2019

When you want to get away for the summer to somewhere fun and full of life, San Diego in Summer is the place to go. There are countless things to do here, and summer is the best time to do them! Here are a few you won’t want to miss out on:

Belmont Park

Belmont Park in San Diego is like summer-concentrate. As San Diego’s only amusement park right on the beach, you absolutely must spend a day here! With the beach and the ocean right next door for the absolute best view, rides and games galore, mouth-watering restaurants and sea-side snacks, and plenty of places to mull around in and shop between rides, you’ll never want to leave. Nothing beats the boardwalk, where you can hop off a rollercoaster and run straight down to the beach if that’s what your heart desires.

LEGOLANDCalifornia

Head over to check out the vivacious and fun-filled LEGOLAND and cool off in style at the LEGOLAND Water Park. Visiting a water park is often the best part of summer, and you’ll never have more fun at a water park than you’ll have at this one. Laugh and play the afternoon away on attractions like Riptide Racers, Wipeout Lagoon, Build-a-Raft River, the Lion Temple Wave Pool, and so many more.

Birch Aquarium at Scripps

Not only is this a gorgeous and memorable aquarium chock full of breathtaking sea life, but they also have events going on all summer for you to get involved with. Check out their Summer Learning Adventure Camps starting in June, their Full Moon Pier Walk, and a live musical performance series by Green Flash. The Seadragons & Seahorses exhibition is now open, so don’t miss out on that while you’re there!

Free Summer Concerts

San Diego has a rich cultural scene when it comes to music. Check out local calendars for free concerts taking place during your planned stay! For instance, starting in June, Balboa Park holds free Twilight in the Park concerts at 6:30 pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening during the summer. Balboa Park is also home to Sunday afternoon organ concerts at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion. If you want live music with the biggest summer vibes, check out the annual Switchfoot BRO-AM, which features surf contests and live free concerts on Moonlight Beach!
