While most of the country is still firmly entrenched in the dog days of summer, there are signs that fall and its cooler temperatures are just around the corner. Daylight comes later and ends quicker, a hint of coolness is felt if you are up early enough, and the sounds of helmets crashing together can be heard from our living rooms, as can the sounds of die-hard fans grumbling loudly at bad calls by the ref and cheering wildly as their teams score once again. Your thermostat may not agree, but fall is almost here, and as such, we’ve provided a list of our favorite fall things to do in San Diego.
Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Air Show
Billed as the largest air show in the United States, this extravaganza is held September 22nd through the 24th. This year’s theme is a salute to Vietnam War veterans. Air shows performed by the Blue Angels, parachute displays performed by the US Army Golden Knights, and the opportunity to examine and explore planes, helicopters, tanks, and so much more are just the beginning of what the Marine Corp has in store for you!
Del Mar International Horse Show
Beautiful horses performing incredible feats in one of the most beautiful cities in the nation—how can you not love the Del Mar International Horse Show? It’s held October 22 in the Del Mar Arena. Parking costs $10, but admission to all the events (except the World Cup Jumping Expo) is free!
Ride the Point Memorial Charity Bicycle Ride
Pack up your bikes and prepare for the breathtaking views to be found along the way, including areas that normally aren’t allowed to be ridden, and perform a good deed as well! Proceeds go towards cancer research, in honor of Jim Krause, who created the event.
