It has been a whirlwind of a year, but 2020 is finally almost over. As we approach the end of the year, it’s time to gear up for another exciting holiday season here in San Diego. Our coastal home is the perfect location for you and your family to spend time away from home for the holidays. Christmas is always exciting when seeing all of the incredible decorations around downtown San Diego, enjoying a variety of holiday themed activities in the area, and relaxing in the comforts of our vacation rentals. Take a look at what your Christmas holiday will look like with us here in San Diego:

Take a Look at the Decorations

Wintertime in San Diego is an incredible time to get out and explore the city. Guests can join us for a crisp yet tolerable temperature for the weather. San Diego’s temperatures often hold out in the low 70s for the winter season, letting you explore with shorts on. When the sun goes down, make sure you have a jacket, as it can get cold at night. The evening is also the best time to see all of the beautiful holiday decorations put up around downtown San Diego. You will see beautiful Christmas lights adorning the buildings and more. Our downtown neighborhood really brings out the Christmas cheer each year for Christmas. Additional neighborhoods that also feature incredible Christmas light decorations include Point Loma and Rancho Penasquitos.

Annual Coronado Christmas Parade

Another great area to see beautiful Christmas decorations with the Annual Coronado Christmas Parade. Large events have drastically changed this year so attendees will be urged to maintain social distancing throughout the event and to wear a mask at all times. You and your family will be able to see incredible floats featuring Santa Claus and many more holiday characters during this popular event. Live bands will be bringing all of your favorite holiday songs to life. Stores located along the parade route will be handing out delicious treats for even more festivities. The Annual Coronado Christmas Parade is scheduled to take place Friday December 4th starting at 6:00 PM. But don’t leave too soon as the Christmas Tree Lighting will finish off the parade at approximately 7:00 PM in Rotary Plaza. You will be in awe as the gigantic Christmas Tree is lit up by San Diego’s own mayor this holiday season.

San Diego Bay Parade of Lights

Another great holiday event that has not been cancelled by 2020 is the annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights. This extremely popular event takes place on the water as large boats and ferries navigate the water in this aquatic parade. Each boat is decked out with an abundance of holiday lights; this is no amateur parade either as the boats are literally covered front to back! We recommend catching the parade around Coronado Ferry Landing or Seaport Village for the best views on the shore. You can catch the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights on two dates of December 13th and 20th both starting at 5:30 PM. Don’t leave this event early either as the parade is followed by a beautiful fireworks display!

The Comforts of Home Away from Home

The most important aspect of planning any holiday getaway is to find the perfect home away from home. Christmas is an important holiday so make sure to only find the best. Our Christmas rentals are ready to host you and your family this holiday season. A variety of rentals are available to choose from. Smaller condominium rentals featured in downtown neighborhoods are perfect for those who want to spend more time exploring the city. Larger homes are great for families with multiple children. These homes are also found all across the different neighborhoods in San Diego. Stay close to Balboa Park or get close to the beach. Each of our rentals come with everything you need to stay comfortable such a complimentary linens and towels; you will not need to bring anything from home. Complimentary Wi-Fi helps you watch all of your favorite Christmas movies on the flat screens in the home. Hang out on the patio with a mug of hot chocolate as the beautiful San Diego sunset sets in. Full-size bathrooms let your entire family prepare for another exciting day on the town all at the same time. As you can see, you will feel right at home with our exclusive Christmas rentals located in San Diego.

The Holiday Season is Here

There is no better time to explore beautiful San Diego than the holiday season. Get ready for your stay by reserving one of these rentals today. Celebrate the end of 2020 with your loved ones and let San Diego be your host for a much-deserved holiday getaway.

When the intrigue of Sunny San Diego becomes evident, planning a 4th of July escape to this Southern California oasis of fun is sure to be an inspiring choice. While traditional Independence Day activities are often looked forward to by family and friends alike, planning a San Diego adventure is a good way to switch things up this year and make some new and exciting memories along the way.

San Diego’s Pacific coast locale means that visitors this direction over the holiday enjoy the benefit of time divided between sea, sand, and land-based activities. Whether you’re one for time sailing, soaking up the sun from the beach, or making the most of city center stops, San Diego provides opportunities to take advantage of it all. When you’re ready to enjoy the adventure and can’t wait to celebrate the 4th of July in San Diego style, be sure to add these holiday activities to the list of must-dos while you’re in town.

Walk the Harbor-Front

Sometimes taking in the sights and watching the boats sail by is the best way to enjoy the scenic beauty that San Diego offers up. During your 4th of July getaway to this inviting city, be sure to take some time to wander along the Harbor-Front. More commonly referred to as Embarcadero, this popular waterfront destination is a great place to take a walk and take in the view that’s dotted with stores and restaurants in combination with traditional harbor designs, wine tasting rooms, and surf shops. Heritage ships that belong to the San Diego Maritime Museum are visible here as is Coronado Island just across the bay.

Visit Point Loma

For those visitors with a passion for military history and one of a kind landscapes, a visit to Point Loma over the 4th of July is sure to please. This landmark destination sits on the west side of the city and overlooks some truly picturesque rocky and rocked terrain. This area has long been looked to as the premier landing point used by explorers first discovering the American west coast and is also recognized as a strategic military point. Home to a naval training center, Point Loma also hosts Sunset Cliffs Park—a favorite amongst many for capturing an incredible view in the evenings.

Seaforth Boat Rentals

When you come to San Diego over the 4th of July, a trip just isn’t complete without ample time spent on the waves. When you can’t wait to get out on the water, the team at Seaforth Boat Rentals is happy to help you book just the right vessel to enjoy a day on the water and under the sun in style. Located at 1641 Quivira Road, Seaforth Boat Rentals is your partner in all things jet ski, powerboat, or pontoon rentals during your visit. A staple in the San Diego tourism community since 1976, the team at Seaforth Boat Rentals is also happy to help guests set up a private charter experience or make the most of tours.

Mission Bay Golf Course and Practice Center

For some 4th of July travelers to San Diego, a trip this way wouldn’t be the same without some dedicated time spent on the greens. If you happen to fall into this category, a holiday stop at the Mission Bay Golf Course and Practice Center should top your list. This public course is located at 2702 Mission Bay Drive and sprawls across 46 acres of scenic terrain. Golfers here can enjoy 18 holes of fun or make the most of the time spent on the driving range working on their long game. The Mission Bay Golf Course stays open until 9:30 pm most nights of the week and encourages golfers to play through the evening hours by providing a night-lit course designed to be enjoyed!

Coronado Beach

A trip to California often brings to mind visions of time spent soaking up the sun’s rays from a lounge chair on the beach. A trip to San Diego is no exception to the rule and when the 4th of July brings you this way, be sure to set aside time to enjoy iconic Coronado Beach. This stretch of sandy shoreline is actually made up of four distinct beach areas, meaning there’s plenty of room for everyone to come and enjoy the sun and scenery. Many visiting with little ones in tow love Coronado Beach for its kite-flying opportunities and if you’re in town with a pet over the holiday, the northern edge of Coronado Beach welcomes furry friends too.

Going on a San Diego vacation is wildly popular—one of the most popular on the entire American West Coast, sometimes referred to as both “the birthplace of California” and “America’s finest city.” San Diego is known for its many inner-city and coastal attractions, and perhaps most of all, its gorgeous beaches.

A Mild Climate

Many coastal cities boast gorgeous beaches, but it can often be too boiling hot outside to enjoy it, or the waters can be too frigid to swim. San Diego, however, is sunny for most of the year, and the temperatures remain relatively moderate year-round as well. This makes it an excellent choice for beachgoers when the holiday season rolls around.

A Gorgeous Coastline

Here in San Diego, you’ll find miles and miles of beaches, varying so much in size and geography and locale that you’ll feel positively spoiled. Our beaches are marked by their soft white sand, a feature that makes them perfect for all sorts of beach fun. Don’t stop and swimming and beach volleyball, though! You can go fishing here too. Learn to surf, explore the tide pools, take your loved ones kayaking. You can even charter a boat out onto the Pacific. There is no end to the different ways you can enjoy your close proximity to the ocean when you stay with us in sunny San Diego.

Countless San Diego Attractions

It’s not just the ocean that draws people to San Diego! This city is alive with adventure, and you’ll find that there are plenty of San Diego attractions to visit, especially when the holidays come to town! You’ll get to visit famous natural features like Sunset Cliffs Natural Park (a great place to view an ocean sunset) and Torrey Pines Natural Reserve (a great place for spotting wild sea life such as seals, dolphins, and even bobcats). But the fun isn’t limited to nature, either. We have seaside amusement parks where you can watch the waves crash from the seat of a rollercoaster. We have a Zoo Safari Park that’s unlike any other zoo you’ve seen before. Visit seaside restaurants, one-of-a-kind museums, historical sites, national monuments, and more, only here in San Diego!

Somewhere Lovely and Affordable to Stay

San Diego is a wonderful city, and it’s our pleasure here at 710 Beach Rentals to provide the loveliest rental homes along the coast so that people coming to visit have a great place to stay. Get in touch with us today and we’ll help you book your San Diego vacation.

The holiday season has begun and many of us are still unprepared, even though we have known that it was coming! Life is busy, complicated, and the days seem to be speeding by, and one day we took a look at the calendar and all of a sudden Halloween had come and gone, Thanksgiving is only a week away, and Christmas is right around the corner! This year, however, you made the smart decision to leave the slushy grayness of your hometown and head to California to celebrate your holiday with sunshine, warmth, and the love of your immediate family. Here’s some fun Christmas activities in San Diego to help you feel merry and festive!

December Nights at Balboa Park

Held December 2nd and 3rd, this charming festival is completely free and filled with holiday activities to be enjoyed by all members of your family! Live music, dance performances, arts and crafts, holiday food and drinks; this festival is the kick-start to all that is wonderful about the holiday season.

Ugly Sweater Bar Crawliday

How better to get in a festive mood than by putting on your ugliest Christmas sweater and heading to the beach for a day of drinking and frivolity! Held on December 4th, the awesomeness starts at Typhoon Saloon, where you will get a shirt and wrist band, and the merriment continues as you parade along to five other local bars for games, prizes, and of course, many, many drinks!

San Diego Bay Parade of Lights

We’re betting that the holiday parades back in your hometown aren’t held on the water; aren’t you happy to be in warm San Diego this year, where our version of a Christmas parade features boats on the bay that are lit up and decorated in their holiday finest? Held on two separate nights, December 11th & December 18th, the best places to view this unique holiday show are at The Embarcadero and The Coronado Ferry Landing.

Gaslamp Holiday Pet Parade

Animal lovers will rejoice at this charming holiday tradition held on December 22 at the Gaslamp Hilton Park. If you brought your precious pooch (710 Beach Rentals also offers pet friendly vacation homes!), dress him up in one of his cutest Christmas costumes and come be a part of the festivities. If you left yours at home, you can find solace in the overabundance of adorableness found at this uniquely festive event!

Below, you will find just a few of the reasons why you will love Thanksgiving in San Diego.

Amazing San Diego Events

The event calendar is always full of unique ways to spend a day in San Diego, but Thanksgiving features a couple of very special ones. One of the local favorites is the Thanksgiving Dixieland Jazz Fest and Swing Extravaganza. If you talk to a San Diego native, you will know this event as the “greatest jazz festival in the world.” This fondness is the result of the wide range of incredible performances from musicians that come from all over the world. It provides an amazing opportunity to enjoy smooth sounds and learn a little something about quality jazz music. There are also endless San Diego events, such as turkey trots, parades, and much more.

Wonderful Thanksgiving Dinners

There are endless options for a delicious Thanksgiving lunch or dinner throughout the city. You can of course find every type of cuisine as well, if you are looking to break from the traditional turkey and stuffing. One of the most exciting places to get a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner prepared by some of the best chefs in the city is the historic Hotel del Coronado on the island of Coronado.

Enjoy Everything That Makes San Diego Special

It all starts with the near perfect weather that graces the city regardless of the season. Then you have the best opportunity to take advantage of this weather by going to one of the city’s gorgeous beaches. Then there are all the amazing attractions from the world-renowned San Diego Zoo to the San Diego Museum of Natural History.

You surely will not regret it!

San Diego is a fantastic vacation destination all year long, and Halloween is no exception! From San Diego’s enviable fall weather to the city’s fun and exciting fall events, your vacation is brimming with opportunities for Halloween thrills. Read on to learn more about the top reasons to spend Halloween in San Diego!

The Weather

While other states around the country are beginning to feel the brisk chill of fall weather, sunny San Diego experiences a much milder fall, allowing you to enjoy the beach and the sights of the city in comfort. You can even plan a beach day, though the water will be a bit cooler than in the summer!

Family-Friendly San Diego Halloween Events

For families with young children or who are just looking for something Halloween-related and fun to do, there are a variety of family-friendly San Diego Halloween events. The San Diego Botanic Garden Family Fall Festival allows visitors to paint pumpkins, do Halloween crafts, participate in a costume contest, and pet animals at the petting zoo. Adults are not allowed to wear costumes at this event. Other cool events in the area include the Haunted Garden Tour & Family Fair at Mission Hills Nursery, the Pumpkin Express train at Pacific Southwest Railway Museum, and Balboa Park Halloween Family Day (which is different from Balboa Park’s Haunted Trail).

Halloween in the Gaslamp District

The Gaslamp District celebrates Halloween with a variety of nightlife events and their famous Haunted Hotel, where one of the district’s historic buildings swarms with the living dead and other monsters of the night. Enjoy events on the weekend leading up to Halloween, such as the San Diego Zombie Crawl to clubs and restaurants, Vin de Syrah’s Sleepy Hollow Halloween, and the block party called the Monster Bash. On the night of Halloween, there’s a Saints & Sinners party at Tin Roof!

Haunted Museums and More

San Diego’s most famous museums gear up for the spookiest season of the year by putting a creepy face on historic buildings and ramping up the ghost stories. Halloween at the Whaley House includes extended hours, Past & Presence Ghost Tours, and ghost hunts held after-hours. The Davis-Horton House, already believed to be haunted no matter what season, showcases its paranormal findings in-house. The Star of India ship hosts ghost stories told by storytellers based on the ship’s seafaring past. And the Scream Zone, San Diego’s largest (and reportedly the scariest) Halloween attraction has three parts in one setting: The Haunted Hayride, the House of Horror, and KarnEvil.

Iconic Attractions Transform for Halloween

From Birch Aquarium’s Sea Monster Mash to the Haunted Trail of Balboa Park, San Diego’s most recognizable and renowned spots don a spookier exterior to add a special touch to your Halloween in the city. LEGOLAND hosts Brick-or-Treat nights and extended park hours. SeaWorld holds a Halloween Spooktacular that has mermaids. And Belmont Park turns into Boomont Park Fall Festival and Haunt, with trick-or-treating, a pumpkin patch, and a creepy rollercoaster. The fun never ends!
