Beach Time

If you are looking for some of the finest beaches in all of California, look no further than San Diego. Seriously, all of the public beaches feature beautiful sand and plenty of space to lay out and enjoy the sun. Public beaches are a great place to catch local surfers hitting the waves. Grab some snorkeling gear and swim out to see what is under the water. One of the most popular beach locales in the area can be found over at La Jolla Cove. The majestic seals and sea lions can be seen sunbathing on the rocks located just off shore. The summer season is always beach season in San Diego!

Visit Balboa Park

One of the biggest and most popular attractions in San Diego is Balboa Park. This is not your typical city park; instead, it is a vast 1,200-acre cultural center with tons of exciting features. Large grassy areas are open for the public to relax or play around on. Tons of walking paths will take you around to see beautiful vegetation. Balboa Park is home to many different museums and theaters. While most of these attractions were closed last year due to COVID-19, they are open again for the upcoming summer season. The most popular attraction at Balboa Park is the San Diego Zoo. This local zoo has been rated as one of the top museums in the world. It features all kinds of exotic animals such as lions, elephants, giraffes, penguins, and so much more. Enjoy feeding areas where you can feed the giraffe or watch the animals explore their incredible habitats. You cannot visit San Diego without seeing the San Diego Zoo!

Visit Belmont Park

Head back into the 1920s where the world was first finding out the thrills of amusement parks. Belmont Park is a historic amusement park that first opened in 1925. The park is still open to this day with exciting rides such as the thrilling roller coaster. Belmont Park can be found on the oceanfront in Mission Bay. There is nothing better than amusement park rides right on the coast!

Take a Brewery Tour

San Diego is home to dozens of locally owned craft breweries. They offer handcrafted ales that focus on classic styles such as lagers, IPAs, and porters along with fun and unique offerings. Stops by local favorites such as Belching Beaver Brewing or Stone Brewing will provide you with an incredible time. You can visit multiple breweries without having to worry about driving when you book a craft brewery tour. Trust local guides such as Brewery Tours of San Diego who can help you find incredible beers and food.

Visit Coronado Island

Another popular summer attraction in San Diego is Coronado Island. This nearby island can be accessed from the downtown neighborhood over the giant bridge. The Hotel Del Coronado has been a highlight of the island that offers fine public beaches and delicious food for lunch. Book a bike tour where you can explore the island with a local guide. Stop by Coronado Brewing for more craft beer and an extensive lunch and dinner menu.

Shop and Dine in the Gaslamp Quarter

There is no better place in town for shopping and dining than the Gaslamp Quarter. This historic neighborhood features Victorian architecture and is 16 blocks long. Walk the stretch where you can find fine dining restaurants with world-famous chefs. Locally owned shops offer unique items found nowhere else. The nightlife in the Gaslamp Quarter is second to none with thrilling bars and nightclubs. Don’t miss out on visiting this urban playground!

Hit Up the Local Theme Parks

San Diego is also home to various theme parks that offer incredible thrills. Local theme parks such as Legoland California, SeaWorld San Diego, and Universal Studios have all been temporarily shut down for the past year. However, everything is getting ready to open up just in time for the early summer season. Make sure to purchase tickets and reservations in advance as the parks will operate at a limited capacity for the season!
