Your Labor Day Weekend Vacation to San Diego

Author 07-23-2019

Enjoying a seaside getaway in three short days can seem overwhelming when there are so many amazing sights to see and places to go. And yet, three days is a long time! That extra day that Labor Day Weekend gives you is perfect for a trip to sunny California. Take a look at our handy guide for getting the most out of this San Diego Labor Day getaway.

Saturday

On Saturday, the first thing you’ll probably want to do is hit up the beach, because you’re in San Diego! One of the best beaches around is Windansea Beach. It’s breathtaking, and vast too, so there’s plenty of room to spread out and find your own special patch of sand to set up camp for the day. After you’ve been swimming and surfing for a while, you’ll be itching for something to do, so head up to Point Loma in the afternoon to see the lighthouse and enjoy a one-of-a-kind ocean view. If you really want to pack the fun in, book a cruise for the first evening.

Sunday

Make Sunday your big activity day! You’ve been to the beach, so now you’ll want to see what else San Diego has to offer. Check out Balboa Park in the morning; it’s an architectural breath of fresh air, and really fun to explore. San Diego Zoo is a great way to fill the afternoon. There’s no other zoo like it, and you won’t want to miss this while you’re here. For dinner, treat your family to some upscale seafood at one of the finest restaurants in town: Nobu San Diego.

Monday

You’ll want to make the most of your last day in town. Take the morning to check out the Birch Aquarium at Scripps, and maybe head to the Air and Space Museum afterward before you gravitate back the beach. Consider heading up north to Black’s Beach for a more secluded experience. Embarcadero is a great way to finish out the trip on your last evening in town by taking it easy and enjoying the sights at a relaxing pace. Watch the sun go down as you walk along the edge of the harbor, and once it gets too dark to see the ocean sparkling anymore, head into one of the shops for dinner and one last drink in San Diego. Check out The Fish Market for some of the best seafood in the city.
